The Black House

Pictures of this house keeps getting shared on Facebook, but without any context….

So wondering why it was black I did a fast search.house-1

Here is the scoop:

The location is Möhringen, Germany. The house was to be demolished. So before that happened two artists Erik Sturm and Simon Jung painted the house a matte black as an art piece.

The project was done in 2008 and titled “Haus in Schwarz” (Black House).

Just so happens the house was captured on Google Maps and from there onto the virtual world.

In the Fall of 2009, the owner, Karin Abt-Straubinger, of the lot opened an art gallery where the house stood.

And that is the story of the black house and why….
