Invasion of the Neptune Men

Another crazy sci-fi movie…. this one was made in 1961 by Toei Company Ltd.. The movie was first released in Japan and then later, in 1964, to the United States. In 1998 the movie was shown on Mystery Science Theater 3000 .

This is a superhero film starring, well the superhero ‘Iron-Sharp’ but for some odd reason the name was changed to the dumpy name of ‘Space Chief’ in the English dubbing. When attacked by group of rogue aliens, the superhero drives off the aliens.

Then the twist, this superhero is actually an astronomer who creates an electric barrier to block the aliens from coming to the Earth. Smart move but the aliens get upset and attack earth with full scale invasion. In the end the mother-ship is destroyed by a nuclear device.

Enjoy it is confusing, campy, fun, and sometimes we need some silly. Though I do have to note the ships are cool, not so much the “aliens” though… oh and just keep saying Iron-sharp in place of Space-Chief, makes the movie a bit more superhero-like.
