‘L’inferno’ (1911)

‘L’inferno’ (1911) was the first full-length Italian film. Directed by Francesco Bertolini, Adolfo Padovan and Giuseppe de Liguoro.

The film also get credit for  being the first movie in gore cinema, with mutilations, demons, and varied forms of punishments.  The movie is of course adapted from Dante’s ‘The Divine Comedy”.
